Flight Data Services (FDS) recognise that to get the best performance from today’s computing environment it is not enough to run a legacy desktop application across the Internet. To provide the best possible user experience across the web FDS are delighted to announce POLARIS, the first major advance in flight data monitoring for a decade. Building upon the worldwide success of the tailored FDM/FOQA service, POLARIS extends the availability of FDS products.

The three POLARIS solutions offer airlines alternative levels of support to suit their needs, and a separate data transfer product that can be used with POLARIS or in any other flight data system.

POLARIS service
For existing and future service customers, POLARIS service focuses on expert data validation by FDS analysts with the unrivalled customer support for which FDS have become famous. The POLARIS analysis suite will bring a modern look and feel to the web site, making navigation easier and improving the quality and interaction of the information presented.

POLARIS on-line
POLARIS on-line is designed for operators who want in-house data analysis without the high cost of software. FDS operate this web hosted analysis service so operators can concentrate on analysis while data is kept safe and secure by FDS.

POLARIS open source
The world’s first Open Source flight data analysis solution, POLARIS gives complete control over every aspect of flight data processing at zero cost. The modern platform for all flight data analysis and research, POLARIS open source is designed for system integrators, OEMs and academic institutions.

POLARIS transfer
Supporting all common media and flight data formats, POLARIS transfer combines advanced data recognition algorithms with secure, reliable web transfer protocols to provide the robust solution for flight data collection needs.

Perfect Aviation was launched in May 2009 and is the first European based business aviation services company to be publicly listed on a major stock exchange. The company currently has two operational subsidiaries, one in Switzerland and the other in Portugal where the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) is held. We are thrilled to announce that on 6th June we analysed our one millionth flight, for Astraeus aircraft G-STRF flying from Basel to Keflavik. This was special as Astraeus were also our first customer and we have been monitoring this particular aircraft since 3rd February 2005.

The 1st Flight Data Services (FDS) U.S. User Group Meeting was held at The Platinum Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, May 21st, 2010.

The User Group meetings are a great opportunity for FDS customers to meet, discuss flight safety issues of common interest, and learn about FDS company and service developments.

This 1st U.S. User Group meeting was addressed by guest speaker Mr. Ken Ashby, of Mountain Air Cargo, who gave a presentation on Steps to acquiring FAA FOQA approval. FDS would like to thank Mr. Ashby for his contribution to the meeting.

Also speaking were FDS representatives Executive V.P., Captain John Flemming, from the U.S. office, who talked about How to get the most out of your data and CEO, Mr. Dave Jesse, from the UK office, who talked about Using the flight data to support engineering investigations.

Flight Data Services (FDS) are pleased to announce that they have been selected as a Flight Data Monitoring service provider by Primera Air.

Primera Air is Primera Travel Group’s own airline and operates one Boeing 737-700 and five Boeing 737-800 aircraft. With head offices in Denmark and bases in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Billund and Helsinki, Primera Air specialises in both ACMI and full charter wet lease operations.

Being an experienced FDM user, Primera Air had a clear understanding of what they required from their FDM system. Morten Sjørslev, Flight Safety Officer of Primera Air Scandinavia said:

We have been looking on the market for quite some time now trying to find a replacement for our flight data monitoring system. We needed a very flexible and easy to operate / integrate solution. We found the solution from FDS to fit our needs as the service they supply is very flexible and can be operated from remote bases as well as line stations with a minimum training of the engineering staff. The POLARIS transfer upload software and quick analysis by staff at FDS will also give us quick access to the data from our fleet. The layout of the web page and the functions will enable us to get a quick overall picture of our operation as well as possible events which need attention by engineering staff or the safety department.
