Flight Data Services (FDS) held the 6th User Group Meeting in Portsmouth, UK on Thursday 26th April 2007.

Twenty-four Flight Safety Officers from FDS customer airlines attended the meeting to discuss safety issues in concern at the Safety Information Exchange session and learn about FDS system and service developments.

Before the meeting FDS Consulting ran a two day training course on Investigative Interviewing. The course was developed specifically for Flight Safety professionals who need to conduct interviews as a part of incident investigations.

Following another successful year Flight Data Services (FDS) is delighted to announce that they are the winner of The News Business Excellence Awards in the category of Small Business of the Year.

A record number of entries were received and more than 500 people from local companies and businesses attended the Awards ceremony, which took place at the Portsmouth Guildhall on 18th January 2007.

The judging panel described FDS as the clear winner in its category and said it was outward-looking, and impressively for a company of its size, winning international contracts with good growth prospects for the future.

Flight Data Services (FDS) donates to charity each year and this year FDS is sponsoring British Schools Exploring Society’s (BSES) Expedition Greenland 2007 and Louise & Al in the Jungle.

BSES Expeditions is a youth development charity that organises challenging scientific expeditions to remote, wild environments. The Greenland 2007 expedition research will focus on one special valley on Disko Island. The Young Explorers will study the dynamic processes affecting the landscape of the valley and the wildlife that inhabits it. For more information about BSES and their Expeditions, visit www.bses.org.uk.

Louise and Al are a couple who will be undertaking voluntary conservation work in Belize with Trekforce Worldwide, a company that organises charitable expeditions within Central America. Their work will be to map out the perimeter of a projected National Park, centred on a spectacular waterfall. Flight Data Services (FDS) held its Fifth User Group Meeting in Portsmouth, United Kingdom between the 7th and 9th November 2006.

The meeting brought together 18 Flight Safety Officers from FDS customer airlines to discuss safety issues in concern and learn about FDS system and service developments. The customers also had a chance to discuss individual configuration changes with FDS Flight Data Analysts.

As well as presentations from the customer airlines on various aspects of FDM the meeting was addressed by guest speaker Brian McDonnell. His talk on Investigative Interview Techniques will help the Flight Safety Officers who attended to get the most out of their aircrew interviews.

FDS would like to thank all the guest speakers for their contribution to the meeting and is looking forward to hosting the next meeting in April 2007.

Flight Data Services (FDS) is delighted to announce that Jet Time, Viva Macau and Phuket Air have selected FDS as their Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) service provider.

Jet Time is a Danish charter airline founded in March 2006. Jet Time operates a fleet of two Boeing 737-500s, flying chartered flights from Billund, Copenhagen and Stockholm.

VIVA Macau is a start-up airline from Macau operating a fleet of modern Boeing 767 wide-body jetliners. VIVA Macau will fly to an exciting range of international destinations opening new routes for Macau.

Following operational difficulties the Thai operator Phuket Air is re-launching its services and using Flight Data Services to provide world class FDM in its operation. Phuket Air operates a fleet of three Boeing 747s.

Flight Data Services (FDS) is delighted to announce that over the past month DHL Air, Twinjet and RAK Airways have selected FDS as their Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) service provider.

UK based cargo operator DHL Air has been running an FDM system for some years, but decided to outsource analysis to FDS as well, so that the freight company's flight data specialist can focus on investigation work and the implementation of safety improvements. With 22 Boeing 757 aircraft, DHL Air becomes the largest customer of FDS to date.

Based in the UK, Twinjet is a Public Transport Operator providing VIP corporate aircraft services. Twinjet operates Airbus 319 aircraft, flying chartered flights worldwide.

RAK Airways is a start-up airline from United Arab Emirates, operating a Boeing 757.  RAK Airways is Flight Data Services' first contract won in the Middle East.
